With the depletion of fossil fuels as well as the rising cost of oil in the world market, coupled with the increasing awareness of environmental protection, has led to concerted and escalating efforts in search of a renewable and environmentally friendly alternative energy source. Experiments with biomass fuels have indicated that one of the promising renewable energy sources is vegetable oil, a simple product of solar energy.

The Diesel Engine was initially designed to use vegetable oils as fuel. The use of Petrol diesel came about later when oil wells started to produce oil on a large scale.

The proliferation and massive use of petrol based fuel has the side effect global warming, which, if unabated, can lead to catastrophic results. Convention on Climatic Changes was formed to address global warming by trying to stabilize the greenhouse gas concentration.

The promotion of biodiesel and other environment-friendly fuels is the best option to have the global economic machinery continue churning and at the same time achieve the objective of mitigating global warming.
