Franchising Sawadee spa

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF SAWADEE?

The meaning of the word Sawadee in Thai translates as “Good Greeting.” In Thai, ‘Awa’ means “greeting”, while ‘ee’ translates to English as “good”. It is the welcome heard by all visitors to Thailand. They actually say "Sawadee Kap" (if the speaker is male) or "Sawadee Kah" (if the speaker is female), which is a form of respect. Thai people are wonderfully polite, which is something that I'm sure many will agree with, but this is just one of the visible aspects of something deep rooted in their history which has created a culture that understands service. Not just in the sense of how to serve, but how to really make people feel special. After spending three years in Thailand, we experienced many different Spas in Thailand - most excelled in service, with attention to detail being something especially impressive. Sandra really wanted to let people know immediately that our Spa was a Thai inspired Spa. The name was intended to convey welcoming warmth and the anticipation of another world.

WHAT WE THINK MAKES SAWADEE THE PERFECT PLACE TO RELAX?

It's hard to say specifically why a given individual finds his or her experience at Sawadee a satisfying one, as we have tried to make sure that there is something for everyone. However we started designing the spa with full attention to detail in mind. From our experiences in Thailand and other parts of Asia, we believe that a spa should appeal to all the senses and make everyone who enters feel special at the same time. The Thai inspired decor and the warm glow of the oriental lamps on entering mixed with the clean scent of lemongrass certainly helps people feel relaxed and comfortable right away. We chose our music very carefully so as to encourage peaceful relaxation as much as possible, keeping nature in mind without being intrusive. Perhaps the traditional Thai manners (including the Thai 'wai' or respectful bow with hands held together in front of the chest) that we have trained our therapists in lends an implicit feeling of 'being served well' - especially when accompanied with a mellow cup of jasmine tea and a floral foot wash prior to the 'main course'.

There is also the somewhat unique aspect of tailor-made service that although simple is effective. We try to ensure that the individual requirements are asked for and try to match the client's needs with the right therapist. Each therapist is capable of full all round service, but some are more appropriate for certain clients than others, especially when it comes to strength of touch.
Most importantly, we encourage all our personnel to be as friendly as possible - there is nothing that encourages relaxation more than a smile and genuine warmth from the staff!
