Franchising Goto king fastfood

The Concept

We are the Pinoy Alternative to the typical foreign fast food joints, carving a niche for ourselves with a unique concept – Filipino food served in air-conditioned comfort and fast-food convenience.

Our strength lies in the food we serve. Our tag line says it all: Sarap ng Bayan! In an industry deluged with Western flavors, our stand out. We serve the food you grew up with, the food you’ll always go back to.

The Success Story

In 1984, when SM Food Court Management was looking for a restaurant concept offering filling but affordably priced food, Mrs. Teresa Dula-Laurel, president of Cater King Food Corporation proposed to sell goto and lugaw with tokwa’t baboy as a side dish. Thus, Goto King was born.

As a yet untested concept, Goto King was initially allowed to sell its products from a cart inside the SM Cubao Food Court. It was such a big seller that within a year of operations, it was given a regular stall in SM Cubao’s Food Court and allowed to expand it menu to include merienda items and refreshments.

The early success of the concept indicated that there is a market for Filipino fast food. To exploit this opportunity, Cater King established outlets in other mall food courts and also ventured in stand-alone operations which operated 24 hours.

Parallel to its outlet expansion was the development of its menu. The concept of tapsilog (tapa, sinangag at itlog) was adapted to other products and became Pinoy Deli Meals. Other set meals added to the line up include the ALtanghap meals, Makabayan meals and the ALmusarap meals, with Goto King serving its customers breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Goto King’s expansion program also targets provincial operations. To date, it has set up outlets in Cavite, Batangas, Pampanga, Lucena City, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Davao.

Integral to its expansion program is the Goto King franchising system which was operationalized in 1994. To oversee its operations, Food Pros, Inc. was established with Mrs. Teresa Dula Laurel as Managing Director.

With 18 franchisees, Goto King is now one of the Philippines’ fastest growing food chains.
