Franchising Body worx spa and fitness club


The Owner couldn’t be happier with her decision to renovate the fourth and fifth floors of her Hollywood Square Building to accommodate a first-class fitness and spa facility. She got into the fitness business after having been convinced by her friend—the same friend who was to become the facility’s pioneering Operations Manager. But the friend didn’t really have to do much persuading. Ms. Uy, at that time, was herself a fitness buff, swimming daily laps that total a distance longer than most anyone of us walk in a day. So she actually got into the fitness venture more than just a businessperson, but more a fitness advocate. She is well aware that getting into this line of business puts her in a position whereshe could influence individuals to get into a positive mindset, which was to become Body Worx’s advocacy: “Master your lifestyle perfection.”

The launching of Body Worx Spa & Fitness Club was scheduled to happen some weeks after the hustle and bustle of the 2002 holiday season, but the the launch just couldn’t be delayed any longer. Although every machine, furniture and fixture had already been put in place, some finishing touches still had to be done within the facility, which still smelt of fresh paint. But eager fitness enthusiasts and friends had already been waiting in line at its front desk asking for membership application forms. And they simply couldn’t be turned away. And so Body Worx Spa & Fitness Club had its soft opening on December 2, 2002.

What are the qualifications that a Body Worx Franchisee must have?

He/she must have successful professional track record and people-handling skills, and preferably, advocates of a healthy lifestyle. The Franchisee should be one who is motivated to succeed, is outgoing, and with an entrepreneurial spirit. It is also very important that he/she accepts the pros and cons of Franchising.

There must be several types of franchise packages available for potential franchisees. What are they and what are their respective target markets?

There are six (6) Body Worx franchise packages available. Descriptions of the each of the packages follow:

1. BW Spa & Fitness Club (BW S&FC) -
A unique “East & West” fusion fitness and total relaxation facility that requires at least 1000 square meters of space to house a spa facility (with separate wings for male and female guests) and a fitness club (which includes a fitness analysis room, areas for stretch, cardio and strength training, group exercise studios, and a boxing ring)

BW S&FC caters to the AB market. Guests for both the spa and fitness facilities pay on a per-visit basis.

2. BW Fitness, a fitness gym, requires an area of at least 100 square meters and is designed to attract the AB market.


  • Members pay joining fees upon acceptance and monthly dues thereafter.
  • Guests who want to try out the facility and its features can pay for special limited-time passes.
  • The brand of equipment is as modern as those installed at BW S&FC and the fitness programs as professionally developed as well.

3. BW Fit & Tone is the C-market counterpart of the BW Fitness.

  • The machines and equipment may not be as current as those set up in a BWF, but the kind of training programs that are afforded to its guests and the kind of winsome professionalism characteristic of BW personnel is always there!
  • Members pay joining fees upon acceptance and monthly dues thereafter. They also enjoy spa privileges such as discounts and priority booking.
  • Guests who want to try out the facility and its features can pay for either a one-day, three-day, one-week, or one-month pass

4. The BW Central is generally similar to the BW Spa & Fitness Club as far as mode of operations is concerned. A minimum 400 square meters of space is required to put up a BWC.

  • BW Central is designed to attract the C market.
  • Memberships and spa procedures are similar to that of a BW SFC, but the rates, of course, are comparatively lower.
  • Members enjoy special spa privileges such as discounts and priority bookings.
  • Use of the facility is generally on a per visit basis.

5. BW Spa, a high-end venue for relaxation and rejuvenation, is intended for the AB market. Aside from massage rooms, the facility could house an Oxygen Bar, a Far Infrared Therapy Room, Foot and Hand Spa Area. The signature Chinese wooden herbal dip tubs are regular fixtures.

Use of the facility is generally on a per visit basis. Appointments may be booked days earlier.

6. BW Spabitat is the “masa” counterpart of BW Spa. Treatment rates are comparatively lower and “abbreviated.” The same friendly and well-trained BW front of house personnel and therapists are never to be missed.

Do we require the Franchisee to practice hands-on Management?

Yes. Franchisee should devote his/her time of at least six (6) hours daily to manage the franchised facility.

Is opening a Body Worx Franchise propose a long time of waiting?

Actually, this depends on several variables such as selecting a favorable location for your facility, the kind of franchise package, training completion, and reconstruction timetable. However, under kind positive situations, you may be able in the business in maximum of 60 days.

Who will choose or provide the location?

The Franchisee is responsible for securing his/her own location, but the approval of the Franchisor is strictly needed. Construction and renovation is entirely at the expense of the Franchisee with Body Worx supervision.

Does Body Worx offer preparation services?

Definitely, Yes! Prior to and upon opening, a Body Worx agent will assist you with training personnel, ordering equipment and arranging of the Franchised Outlet Opening. The Franchisor will guide and advise you on every situation of the event.

In addition, we also require the Franchisee and Supervisory Staff to complete our training program in order to be sure that the Franchised Outlet to run smoothly.

What’s in on the Operations Manual?

Body Worx has spent a huge time and effort developing its services and system, and accepts no compromise in quality control. Because of this fact, we designed our own Operations Manual that details the Body Worx system on every aspect of the daily operation of your facility. An Operations Manual specific to the type of the franchise package is available, as well as that for operating a Juice Bar. This documented system will thoroughly guide you on every aspects of your operation thus enhancing your service within the management and towards your clients.
